A practitioner of hesychia — stillness
The person who follows the hesychast path — the contemplative tradition of stillness, the Jesus Prayer, and watchfulness that the Philokalia preserves. Not a denominational identity but a practice description: a hesychast is someone who practices hesychia. The entire Philokalia is "The Philokalia of the Neptic [Watchful] Fathers" — an anthology for hesychasts and those drawn to the hesychast way.
